Insert Passage: 

Issued from 1865 to 1889, the Three Cent Nickel was designed by Mint Master, James B. Longacre. 
The Nickel version was issued due to the earlier Three Cent Silver coin be hoarded by the general public. 


The obverse shows the head of Lady Liberty, with the reverse showing Roman Numeral three for denomination.
