This coin was designed by the United States Bureau of the Chief Engraver, Charles E. Barber.  The series was produced between 1892 – 1916.

The head depicts Miss Liberty and the reverse an eagle with outstretched wings.  The Heraldic Eagle is based on the Great Seal of the United States.
